Timothy Busfield
Early Life and Beginnings
Born on June 12, 1957, in Lansing, Michigan, Timothy Busfield was immersed in the arts from a young age, thanks to his parents, drama professor Roger and Michigan State University Press Director Jean Busfield. He embarked on his acting career with a role in a children's theater adaptation of Shakespeare's _A Midsummer Night's Dream_ at 18, after graduating from East Lansing High School in 1975. His studies in drama at East Tennessee State University and his time with the Actors Theater of Louisville laid the foundation for his acting career.
Breakthrough and Notable Roles
Busfield moved to New York City in 1981, joining the Circle Repertory Company for their production of Lanford Wilson's _Talley and Son_. His film debut came the same year in _Stripes_. However, it was his role as Elliot Weston in 'Thirtysomething' that truly made him a household name, earning him critical acclaim and an Emmy Award. He later portrayed Danny Concannon in 'The West Wing', further establishing his versatility as an actor.
Theater Contributions and Directing
Alongside his on-screen success, Busfield has made significant contributions to theater, co-founding the B Street Theatre in Sacramento, California, with his brother Buck. He has also directed and written children's plays, showcasing his passion for the performing arts. His directing work extends to television, where he has directed episodes for shows like 'Sports Night', 'Ed', 'Las Vegas', and 'Joan of Arcadia'.
