For a long time now, the Golf has been a barometer of technical trends. The current registration figures indicate that the dynamic and economical direct-injection petrol engine models (FSI) will lead to the final breakthrough for the best-seller by Volkswagen. The direct-injection petrol engine is also deployed in the Lupo, Polo, and Bora model series, which means that today 77% of all FSI models in Germany are sold as Golfs and Golf Variants. The pioneering engine technology that has been offered in the Golf since January of last year is experiencing a significant boost in sales. In the current model year, the Golf class is offered in six equipment versions and 14 engine variants. The new top model is the Golf R32 (refer to separate chapter 'Golf R32'). The power of the high-torque diesel direct injection (SDI and TDI) ranges from 50 kW / 68 bhp to 110 kW / 150 bhp. The petrol engines are powered at between 55 kW / 75 bhp and 177 kW / 241 bhp; they also include the powerful and economical direct-injection petrol engine (FSI) with 81 kW / 110 bhp. Regardless of the engine and equipment, always on board: the stabilisation program ESP and the brake assistant. As options, the best-seller from Wolfsburg can be further individualised with equipment details such as automatic gearbox, 4MOTION four-wheel drive (V6 and R32 as standard), air conditioning system (Highline, GTI, V6 and R32 as standard), leather interior (R32 series including special sport seats), Recaro leather seats, various radio and navigation systems, car telephone and xenon headlights including headlight cleaning system.
